::: Living New York :::
I guess seeing natural disasters is becoming more & more common around the world.
Compared to many areas along the east coast, New York City was still in a much better shape I guess.
On a different note, two weeks ago I attended, at Colombia University, a lecture about how the city should make much better use of ferry transportation and connect Manhattan, NJ shore, Brooklyn and Queens - Staten Island in a more efficient ferry transportation system.
The damage that Sandy caused to the subway system forced the whole subway to shutdown for days! I think this was an indication that, yes ferries should be a good alternative not only in such days but even in general and especially between NJ / Brooklyn / Queens
On the Brooklyn side - Williamsburg / East Ferry ... few people were using the ferry
